Empowering pregnant women to approach the birth of their baby feeling informed and confident – that’s what I am here to do!
I’m a birth educator and writer based in London W12. I am dedicated to helping mothers-to-be and their birth partners towards an empowered, fulfilling birthing experience. I teach a range of different antenatal classes and I will work hard to help you overcome whatever concerns or obstacles are in the way of a peaceful, calm and relaxed pregnancy and birth.
I’ve always been a bit of a pioneer with hypnobirthing: one of my very earliest clients was also one of the first UK hypnobirth mums to be featured on national TV, having an amazing, peaceful home hypnobirthing experience. That film is still used as a teaching aid by hypnobirthing teachers all over the world.
I am also a writer and author and in a previous “life” I was the children’s books editor of The Times newspaper. I was one of the first journalists to spot the potential of J. K. Rowling’s Harry Potter books…but that’s another story!
You may be wondering how on earth you will cope with a newborn baby in your life. Well, I am passionate about the early days of parenthood! As an accredited Babycalm instructor, I can help you and your partner to feel more confident about getting to know your newborn baby with a relaxed postnatal session in your home.
Since 2004 I have trained with and gained certification from the Marie Mongan HypnoBirthing Institute; hypnotherapist Ursula James’ Hypnosis for Childbirth programme; and the National College of Hypno-Psychotherapy, gaining the Certificate in Hypnotherapy. I’m also an National Childbirth Trust antenatal teacher and was awarded the Higher Education Certificate of Antenatal Education by NCT and the University of Bedfordshire in 2012. (My NCT courses have to be booked through their website)
I was one of the first hypnobirthing teachers to embrace the fresh, modern outlook of The Wise Hippo Birthing Programme. I am very excited about how positive women’s experiences are after doing this course with me. I am a member of the UK HYPNOBIRTHING ASSOCIATION
I do not let my knowledge stagnate: I constantly update my knowledge of labour, birth and the early baby days with study days run by Doula UK, the NCT and other institutions.
As a doula I’ve supported dozens of women and during labour and childbirth, including many of my own HypnoBirthing clients, and postnatally too.
